First Ever – Lebanese Swimmer to represent us at the 2011 Olympic Games in London


Katya Bachrouche, a Lebanese swimmer has assured a spot at the next Olympic Games in London after setting a new record in the 400-meter freestyle event for Lebanon, a first in the country’s history.

Bachrouche, a member of the Jazira swimming club, qualifies to take part at the 2011 London Olympics after coming seventh in the women’s 400 meter freestyle at the Universiade Shenzen 2011 in the south Guangdong Province in China, reported the National News Agency.

The 31-year old came in at 4:15.06 in the event, a Lebanese record, the agency said.
