“Zay Ma Hiyy… wil sama zar’ka”

Lebanese Elections - Political Campaigns 2009The Future Movement of Saad el Hariri has a great political consulting firm, which coined the term and humorously used by Sayed Nasrallah in a recent speech. A battle of creative campaigns in Lebanon are taking toll, this year being the most expensive and organized campaigns in Lebanon’s history; The Change & Reform block and the Future Movement have stood out the most, even the relatively new “political party” of Hezbollah launched clever billboards, even outside their districts.

In addition to facebook and viral videos, the art of networking through the internet, billboards, and rumors are getting finely tuned in terms of provocation and mass media distribution. I’m glad to see Lebanese are all active in this election season.

  1. Well, I’m sure you know who is behind the Mustaqbal campaigns… Saatchi and Saatchi. I agree with you, the Mustaqbal’s campaigns are quite good, but it’s interesting to note that instead of having a spin doctor behind their billboard campaign (they do have spin doctors for their communication with the media), they rely on an ad agency for the form and “the content”.
This is less true for the Free Patriotic Movement and Hezbollah whose core messages (even if vacuous) are defined by the party (mostly its leader) and the ad agency just translates them.
