Lebanon moves on, from Summer 2004


tourismTourism in Lebanon increased 28.9 % during the first ten months of 2008, according to figures released by the Ministry of Tourism on Wednesday.

The official statistics, which were included in Bank Audi’s weekly economic report, showed that number of people visiting Lebanon in 2008 was nearly equal to the all-time record set in 2004.

Between January and October 2008, 1,100,000 people traveled to Lebanon, compared with a figure of 855,573 for the same period last year.

The Bank Audi report said that number of Arab tourists visiting Lebanon increased 54.1% during the month of October, “due to the stable political situation  since may 2008.”
