Americans elect a black man!
This must be surprising to the rest of world.
How courageous and astonishing the rate of evolution Americans have surpassed. America is founded by emigrants, lest we forget the massacres they have done by the hatchet to gain the lands of the new world. Regardless of ones skin color, religion, and background, Americans have gone out in the largest mass seen on November 4th to elect Barak H. Obama, as the next president of the United States and to some extent, the world.
Graduated from Columbia University and Harvard Law School, the Illinois senator had a lot of differences with the previous administration’s ideology of the infamous W. Bush. In fact, from what has been debated so far with McCain, Obama seems to be in flat contradiction to Bush policies, and this means change, and hope for the world Bush has left behind him.
The average Iraqi will be more affected by Obama than any average American that voted for him. America’s foreign policy, which is viewed to be violent, and occupational by every other country in the world has catch their breath at the excellent news of Obama’s victory.
There is a lot to be said for America choosing a black president. It is a open statement, that Americans are not racist, at least not as much. They have somewhat overcome that, and looked beyond at a person who will be in charge of their country by his character, deeds, educational background, proficiency and charisma.
We Lebanese may have a lot to admire! I’d guarantee a lot of bloodshed if a Lebanese President wasn’t a Christian, or a Prime Minister wasn’t a Sunni, or House Speaker that isn’t Shiah.
