Opposition ‘cabinet ministers’ may consider their jobs back

Last November, six ministers affiliated to the Hezbollah and Amal party pulled out from the government when it approved the international tribunal to try suspects in the assassination of former Premier Rafik Hariri and related crimes.

Yesterday, the six ministers considered rejoining Prime Minister Fouad Saniora’s government as ‘caretakers’; One of them stating that :”We don’t want the country’s destinies to lie in the hands of the ruling team,”

This blogger assumes pressure from the coming phase which involves the international involvement in the tribunal and to pass the court to UN hands, as well as the Presidential elections to take place late September.

Internationally, the US may have a foreign policy change towards the ‘middle east’ while democrats take lead; embattled World Bank President Paul Wolfowitz (strongly involved in the Iraq war and Bush administration) ‘s future grows uncertain. As well as Sarkozy’s recent election in France concerns the ‘proche orient’, especially while serving a hefty number of soldiers in southern Lebanons’ FINUL.
